SECOND N. C. BATTALION—From a business letter written by a member of this Battalion, we make the following extract:

“We have built winter quarters about one mile from Half-way Station, on the line of breastworks that extends from the Station to the Bluff.  Charles E. Shober, of Greensborough, is our Colonel, and he is eminently qualified for the position.  He will prove himself to be the right man in the right place, whenever an opportunity presents itself.”
